Brown Butler thanks experienced accountants for long service

One of Leeds’s leading independent accountancy firms, Brown Butler, has thanked two of its longest-serving experts as they begin their retirement.

Personal tax specialists, Andrew Rayner, and Accounts Director, Keith Lee, are stepping down from the firm after contributing more than 90 years of combined experience.

Andrew, who has advised clients on a wide range of tax planning and compliance matters, retires following 41 years at the practice.

Speaking about his time at the firm, he said: “One of the main reasons that I have remained at Brown Butler so long is the people I have worked with over the years.

“There is really a feeling of family within the practice, which I love. During my time, I have gone through some major life events – everything from my marriage through to moving house – and the support I have received during these times has been second to none.”

Looking ahead, Andrew plans to move to Whitby and enjoy many relaxing Januarys, without the usual stress of the tax return deadline.

Meanwhile, for the last 50 years, Keith has helped to lead Brown Butler’s accounts team as a director.

Talking about his time at the firm, he said: “There are many clients that I have seen grow from small start-ups to become major businesses. I have always loved the variety of clients that we work with, as it means that each day is different.”

Keith has praised the firm for its ability to spot and develop top accounting talent, and that with the right “effort and attitude, there are always opportunities to progress within the firm.”

Keith also has plenty of fond memories of working at Brown Butler and will miss collaborating with his colleagues and clients – many of whom he has worked with for decades.

However, he is looking forward to playing a little more golf, spending time with his family, getting his hands dirty in the garden and enjoying more midweek football, as a keen supporter Manchester United.

Nicola Taylor, a Director at Brown Butler, added: “Both Keith and Andrew have spent years working hard to help our practice grow and succeed. All our team are extremely grateful for their continued commitment to deliver outstanding advice and support to our clients.

“They are an important part of our firm’s history, and we will all be sad to say farewell to them but also pleased that they are going off to enjoy their passions and hobbies as they enter retirement.”
