Children’s cancer charity Candlelighters has received a donation of £8,233 from Brown Butler – one of Leeds’s leading independent accountancy firms
The recent cheque presentation follows a year of dedicated fundraising by the team for their Charity of the Year 2025.
From long walks to bakeathons, the Brown Butler team has shown remarkable enthusiasm for raising both funds and awareness for children and families affected by childhood cancer.
Last year began on a sweet note with not one but two baking days during Candlelighters’ Pink It Up Week.
Cakes, biscuits, brownies and treats of every kind filled the office, raising money and plenty of smiles.
The campaign continued with a pink dress down day, as suits were swapped for bright and bold outfits to show support for Candlelighters.
Later in the year, the competitive spirit returned with a Halloween bake off, where team members showcased their spookiest creations in aid of the charity.
Brown Butler’s more adventurous colleagues took on a 25km charity walk from Saltaire to Leeds, raising vital funds along the way.
The route was challenging, but strong team spirit and good weather helped carry everyone to the finish line.
The firm also swapped spreadsheets for sport by joining dozens of local organisations in the Business Five Leeds Football Tournament, all playing to support Candlelighters.
The firm also made a £1,300 donation in lieu of sending client Christmas calendars, ensuring festive spending went directly towards Candlelighters’ vital work.
Nicola Taylor, a Director at Brown Butler, said: “We are incredibly proud of the effort our team has put in this year.
“Every cake baked, mile walked and donation made has helped support families facing the toughest of challenges. Candlelighters does extraordinary work and we are honoured to play a small part in that.”
