After months of uncertainty, Companies House has officially confirmed the identity-verification deadline as 18 November 2025.
From that date, all new company directors and People with Significant Control (PSCs) will need to verify their identity.
For existing directors and PSCs, there will be a 12-month transition period, which means the true final deadline is 18 November 2026.
How should directors prepare?
New directors must verify their identity before submitting their first filing.
Existing directors should note that 18 November 2025 begins the transition period, and verification must be completed before the company’s next confirmation statement.
Directors will need to provide their personal code and a verification statement for every role they hold.
If any directors or PSCs are overseas or may face delays, it is important to contact them as soon as possible.
Directors with multiple companies must link the same personal code to each company role individually.

How should PSCs prepare?
PSCs are required to submit their personal code via an online service.
Each PSC has a 14-day window to provide their code, with exact timing dependent on when they were registered and whether they are also a director.
Even if a PSC has already verified their identity, they still need to submit their personal code and a verification statement for each role.
How do you verify?
Verification can be done DIY via GOV.UK One Login, or through an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP).
Using an ACSP is often the simpler and safer option, helping ensure there are no issues during the verification process.
ACSPs can manage the entire process, reduce errors, and submit filings on your behalf.
Remember, only registered ACSPs are authorised to verify identities, so avoid using unregistered third parties.
