Celebrating a year of fundraising for Candlelighters

We are proud to mark the end of a fantastic year of fundraising for our Charity of the Year 2025, Candlelighters.

Over the past year, our team has raised £8,233 for Candlelighters, supporting the incredible work they do for children and families affected by childhood cancer across Yorkshire.

The total was recently marked with a cheque presentation, bringing to a close a year filled with energy, commitment and no small amount of cake.

A year of creativity, commitment and teamwork

Our fundraising efforts took many forms, with colleagues getting involved in ways that played to all strengths, from baking to long-distance walking.

The year got off to a sweet start during Candlelighters’ Pink It Up Week, when we held not one but two office baking days.

Cakes, biscuits, brownies and just about every other treat imaginable filled the office, raising funds and lifting spirits in equal measure. We followed this with a pink dress down day, swapping suits for bright outfits to show our support.

Later in the year, the competitive edge came out with a Halloween bake off, where some impressively spooky creations were judged in aid of the charity.

Taking fundraising further

For those keen to take on a bigger physical challenge, several members of the team completed a 25 km charity walk from Saltaire to Leeds.

It was a demanding route, but strong team spirit and good weather helped carry everyone over the finish line.

We also swapped spreadsheets for sport by taking part in the Business Five Leeds Football Tournament, joining dozens of other local organisations who all came together to raise funds for Candlelighters.

In addition, we made a £1,300 donation in lieu of sending client Christmas calendars, ensuring festive spending went directly towards supporting the charity’s vital work.

Looking back with pride

Reflecting on the year, Nicola Taylor, Director at Brown Butler, said: “We are incredibly proud of the effort our team has put in this year. Every cake baked, mile walked and donation made has helped support families facing the toughest of challenges. Candlelighters does extraordinary work and we are honoured to play a small part in that.”

Supporting our local community is something we care deeply about and we would like to thank everyone who took part, donated or cheered us on along the way.
