A chartered accountant with over 20 years experience, I have been a Director and Principal of leading Leeds-based firm, Brown Butler Chartered Accountants for in excess of 13 years, dealing with owner managed businesses throughout the UK and particularly focused in the Yorkshire and Humber region, involved in a number of specific specialist areas including property and printing.
My experience of the property sector includes working with substantial construction businesses, property developers, investors and care home groups which has given me an extensive understanding of the issues faced by this sector particularly around VAT requirements, including options to tax, as well the regulatory matters surrounding registration under the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS). My client portfolio in the construction sector covers all sizes of companies, the largest having an asset base well over £50m. Associated with this sector is another of my larger audit clients which is in the plant hire business.
My expertise in the printing sector comes from many years working with print associated businesses as the whole sector has developed over the years since I joined Brown Butler in 1996. As a Director of the firm, I act for a number of print management companies, fulfillment houses and a number of businesses that have moved away from the more traditional element of this sector into marketing, advertising and market research businesses helping me appreciated the very wide-ranging matters such businesses may face on a day to day basis.
