After training in accountancy with a north Leeds practice, I joined leading Leeds-based firm, Brown Butler Chartered Accountants in an IT role in 1993 and became IT Director in 2006.
Being involved with all elements of our firm’s service offerings, my primary internal focus is to drive our use of technology as an enabler.
As a consultant, I primarily advise on products that provide an accounting or administrative function. When running a business, you need information that is accurate, succinct and relevant; whether purely online, or a traditional bricks-and-mortar business, I work with clients to ensure the solution they choose will provide them with the information they need, in a timely fashion. My services are often particularly in demand when organisations are undertaking significant change programmes or making efforts to comply with new business reporting requirements.
I am a chartered member of the British Computer Society (BCS), the chartered institute for IT, and with more than 30 years’ experience, I have seen a lot of change in both the IT industry and the accountancy profession. I have worked with a variety of clients from SMEs to large organisations across the architectural, construction, entertainment, haulage, hospitality, legal, manufacturing, medical, property rental and retail sectors, as well as not-for-profit organisations. While mainly focussed on accountancy and admin systems, I work with many technologies including on-premise, infrastructure, communications, security and cloud solutions.
Outside of work I enjoy swimming, shooting, motorcycling, live music and spending time with my awesome family.
