The Partners and Team at Brown Butler
TOP YORKSHIRE TAX EXPERT JOINS BROWN BUTLER
One of Yorkshire’s foremost practitioners in the field of tax dispute resolution is joining Leeds chartered accountants Brown Butler to head the firm’s growing tax dispute resolution team, which includes tax investigations and disclosures.
Paul Clarke, a chartered accountant and chartered tax adviser, was previously a long-standing tax partner in the Leeds office of PKF and BDO, where he headed PKF’s tax dispute resolution activities in the North of England and was also a member of BDO’s national tax dispute resolution team.
His appointment coincides with the Government’s announcement in the summer Budget of the investment of more than £300m in HMRC’s anti-avoidance and investigation operations - as part of its continuing drive to clamp down on tax evasion and aggressive avoidance.
Mr Clarke said: “I am excited to be joining Brown Butler as we share the same values. Tax dispute resolution is an increasingly valuable service for clients as HM Revenue and Customs is demonstrating a greater desire to resolve long-running tax disputes, rather than go through the courts.”
Welcoming Mr Clarke’s appointment, Brown Butler’s Director of Tax, Craig Hughes, said: “I am truly delighted that Paul is joining us. He is highly regarded in the Yorkshire professional and business community and brings with him a massive amount of experience.
